Spain Trip Feb. 2006

Well, we just returned home from a 10 day trip to Seville, Spain with Wolfgang (Christian’s brother). We had a blast!!! Christian and Wolfgang’s mum, Julia, was there from Australia and I got to meet almost the entire Canete family (Julia’s parents, 3 of 4 of her brothers, her sister, their spouses, and 6 of the cousins).

They took us sightseeing around Seville…down the many narrow, one-way, brick-paved, orange tree-lined streets….to the huge Cathedral (3rd biggest in the world, with Christopher Columbus’ tomb inside), La Geralda (tower attached to the cathedral), Italica (awesome Roman Ruins which included a stadium, remains of houses, and large bath pools), a Carthusian monastery, Alcazar (an old royal palace), the university, Plaza de Espana, Plaza de Americas, site of the 1992 World Expo, and Barrio de Santa Cruz.We enjoyed MANY rounds of tapas (about every 2 hours), lots of coffee, salted ham, bread, olives (of course!!), potatoes, garbanzo beans, fish, the best oranges I’ve ever tasted, and lots of good sweets!!!! The language barrier wasn’t too much of a problem for me, with all the bilinguals in the family, similar words to French (which I occasionally picked up), and many written things were in English as well. Unfortunately, our trip was too short to enjoy any siestas, but I’m catching up on sleep this week!! (We had some dinners at 11PM!!) Enjoy the PICTURES!!!

Two weeks until Florida and then I’m going to Germany for a college friend’s wedding the week after that!! Busy, busy!!
